Emily Butler

BUTLER, Emily

We, the family of Emily Mary Butler, age 94, (wife of Tic Butler) wish to announce her passing on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late John F. and Annie (MacEachern) MacInnis.

Emily was a member of the White Cross Volunteers, the Sydney Kinette Club and the Gaelic Society of Cape Breton. For many years, Emily and her late husband, Tic opened their home to many local and international Celtic performers. Many enjoyed a hot cup of tea or a warm bed at Tic and Emily’s and many a great ceilidh was had in their home.

Beside her parents, Emily was predeceased by her husband, Trotsky "Tic"; sisters, Mary, Ethel (Vern Doncaster), Mae (Dan Nash) and Maggie (Jack Eddy); brothers, Mickey, Sham, John and Joe.

She is survived by her sons, Lenin (Carol), Grande Cache, AB, Chris (Nancy), Dartmouth and David (Bertha), Sydney; grandchildren, Mark, Craig, Nicolle, Christa, Shamus, Stephen, Sonya and James. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of Fisherman’s Cove for the care and compassion they provided to our mother during her stay at Harbourstone Enhanced Care. To Dr. Paul Murphy, words cannot describe our gratitude for the exceptional care, concern and compassion you gave our mother.
