It is with great sadness that we, the family of Walter Wojcik, announce his passing on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Celtic Court, Sydney. Walter was a former resident of Lorne Street, Sydney.

Born September 6, 1926, in New Waterford, Walter was the son of the late Wladyslaw and Jozefa (Wozniakowna) Wojcik.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator at the Sydney Airport until his retirement. Walter served in the Merchant Marines and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12, Sydney. He was a devote member of St. Theresa’s Church, Sydney and St. Mary’s Polish Church, Whitney Pier.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Priscilla (Rogers); daughters, Corrine (David Morrison), Sydney, Pam (Richard Fogarty), Cole Harbour and Wanda (late Mark Williston), Cole Harbour; son, Ron (Liz), Hammonds Plains; daughter-in-law, Maggie (late David Wojcik), Hammonds Plains. He is survived by his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as Jodju, Mark, Melissa, Dayna, Adam, Alanna, Greg, Victoria and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Landon, Reid, Mollie, Clara, Tyler, Mitchel, Leah and Lindsay; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, David and two sons, Bernard and Michael (in infancy). The last surviving member of his immediate family, Walter was also predeceased by his sisters, Wanda, Jenny, Freda, Helen and Bertha and brothers, Bernie and Alex.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, 49 Welton St., Sydney on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 2 p.m., with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Polish Church, Whitney Pier or charity of your choice.
