Melvin James Spagnolatti

Melvin James Spagnolatti

November 7, 1964 – July 2, 2019

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Melvin James Spagnolatti, beloved son, brother and friend, on July 2, 2019 in Sydney.

Melvin was the son of Shirley (Childs) and the late James Spagnolatti and "Big" brother to Ann Marie and Chris.

He was a graduate from Riverview High School, studied at Acadia University and was a life-long and avid reader.  He worked for City Wide Taxi for thirty years and was not just an employee, but a friend to many.  Melvin loved watching sports, especially his Habs, his cat Rocky and sharing a laugh.  If Melvin had a fault it was his bad puns and sarcasm.

He was predeceased by his father James, both sets of grandparents, Richard and Violet Childs and Louis and Hattie Spagnolatti, and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley, sister Ann Marie (Clarence), brother Chris (Maureen), nieces Reanna (Nick) and Angie (Jason), nephew Scott (Angela), great nieces Alex and Brooklyn and great nephew Dylan; aunts Isabelle (Greg), Louise (Rick), Evelyn (Donald), Eileen and Wendy; Uncle Donald (Brenda), and a truck load of cousins including Michelle (Adam), Jason, Tiana and Kael. He is also survived by his God parents Eddie Spagnolatti and Dorothy Assoun.

Visitation will be at Sydney Memorial Chapel from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Saturday, July 6. Funeral service will be at Holy Redeemer Church in Whitney Pier on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 1 pm with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment in Eastmount Cemetery, Whitney Pier.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the SPCA.
