Barbara Helen "Bobby" Smith

March 3, 1942 - May 31, 2021

|

Glace Bay

With broken hearts, we, the family of Barbara “Bobby” Helen Smith, regret to announce her passing on Monday, May 31, 2021, at the Glace Bay Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.   Her surviving daughters were by her side and her sons were with her in love and spirit due to Covid restrictions.
Born March 3, 1942, in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Adelaide (O'Handley) McIntyre.
Our mother loved us dearly, was very proud of her children and who we became. "Ma" loved her grandchildren who were her pride and joy.  She also knew how blessed she was to get to know and love her four great-grandchildren who always made her smile.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Reg; daughters, Barbara Smith (Graham Fequet), Glace Bay and Nancy (James) MacLean, Halifax; sons, Reginald (Carol) and Joseph Rohrback (Tracey), both of New Brunswick; grandchildren, Chiara, Tara, Courtney, Matthew, Jarrett, Lauren, Devon and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Khloe, Austin, Rory and Nora; sisters, Rosemarie “Sissy” Bond,  Lorraine McIntyre and Marilyn; brothers, John and Wayne; and son-in-law, Gary Hooper.
Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her daughter, Donna (Smith) Hooper; sister, Frankie; and brother, Allie.
Our "Ma", will now fly with the angels and be with her daughter again in heaven.
A graveside service will be held in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Glace Bay at a later date when family can attend together.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
