Brittany Nicole MacNeil

January 8, 1990 - October 18, 2020

|

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Brittany Nicole on October 18, 2020, in Calgary, AB.

Born January 8, 1990, Brittany is survived by her parents, Michael D. and Sharon (MacLean), Iona and her fiancé, Brian A. Chisholm, Calgary, AB. Also surviving are her maternal grandmother, Doris (Matheson) MacLean, Port Hawkesbury; uncle, David MacLean; aunts, uncles and cousins in the Boston, Mass area; and aunts, uncles and cousins on the MacNeil side of the family.

Brittany graduated from Rankin School of the Narrows in 2008. She attended CBU for three years in the BACS Program. Upon moving to Calgary, Brittany met the “Love of her Life”, Brian, whom she loved dearly and where she lived for the past nine years. Being a social butterfly, Brittany loved meeting people and making new friends. She cherished the loyalty of her high school and university friends. Brittany’s glowing smile and contagious laughter would light up a room. Brittany was loving, kind and generous. She always chose and presented the perfect gifts for family and friends. Whenever we went on trips, she made them special and planned it that way. Brittany loved returning home to Cape Breton every summer. She loved the beach, barbeques and family outings and, of course, Brittany was always home for Christmas, her favourite time of year. She would have the whole house decorated, including her fur babies, Lulu and Korr in their festive attire.

Brittany loved all animals, especially her passion for horses.  Beginning riding lessons at the age of seven, she continued in Calgary with her equestrian goals. Despite two riding accidents sustaining back and neck injuries resulting in chronic pain, she continued to ride. It’s what made her happy. Brittany had so many plans, but the Lord had other plans for her. He needed another Angel. We know she is watching over us. Her presence is indeed helping us struggle through our sorrowful loss. Our daughter, Brittany had such an impact on and touched upon so many lives as reflected in the pictures, messages and stories from her family and friends. “Live, Love, Laugh”. Brittany you are in our hearts forever.

Brittany was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Edmund G. MacLean; paternal grandparents, Murdock “Michael D.” and Margaret MacNeil; and uncles, Bruce and Kevin MacLean.

Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. The service will be available to be viewed on the Sydney Memorial Chapel facebook page. Covid-19 guidelines of wearing masks and social distancing are mandatory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the SPCA or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
