Byron MacLeod

October 13, 1949 - April 27, 2021

|

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Byron Kenneth MacLeod, on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, a dearly loved husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, son-in-law and friend.

He was born to the late Clara and Allister MacLeod on October 13, 1949.

Byron was a kind and gentle man, who treasured his family above all. He loved spending time with his family and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. He was the most dedicated husband and father a family could ask for.

Byron is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Iylah; daughters, Amy (Darren) Singler and Deanna (Walter) McElmon; brother, Blair; and sister, Roslyn MacLeod. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Geraldine MacLeod, who held a special place in his heart; brothers-in-law, Michael (Brenda) MacLeod, David (Valerie) MacLeod and Earl (Melina) MacLeod; sisters-in-law, Joyce MacLeod and Heather (Bob) Pye; and many dear nieces and nephews.

Byron was predeceased by father-in-law, Earl MacLeod in 2013.

His two daughters and their husbands were a constant source of pride and pleasure to him. He loved spending time with each of them and did so at every opportunity. Our family gatherings will never be the same.

Byron’s career with H. H. Marshalls Ltd. began as a driver for the company and ended as District Manager for Eastern Nova Scotia. He was a very well-respected business man and many lasting friendships formed over these many years.

Byron was an elder of Bethel Presbyterian Church and co-chair of the Bethel Session Benevolent Fund of the church. He took pleasure in helping others and his talents in this regard were well put to use in this position. He was also a member of the Men’s Tuesday Morning Breakfast Group of the church. In his younger years, he enjoyed many good rounds of golf and was a member of Lingan Golf and Country Club.

He left us with many wonderful memories, many smiles, many unique expressions, and very much love and gratitude for having this wonderful person in our lives. We will forever miss him, but we know he will live forever in our grateful hearts.

“You can shed tears that he is gone or you can smile because he has lived, you can close your eyes and pray he’ll comeback or you can open your eyes and see all he has left”.

“Meet you in the jar my love and I will waltz around heaven with you...Iy”

Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no formal funeral held. A private family celebration of life in Byron’s honour will be held in the near future.

If anyone wishes, donations to the Bethel Session Benevolent Fund in Byron’s memory would be most appreciated.
