Ellen Beth Macdonald

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ellen Beth Macdonald of Howie Center. on Thursday, November 7, 2019, in the company of her loving family, in the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital

A long-time resident of Rockdale Avenue in Sydney, Ellen Beth was the daughter of Fraser and Olney (Grant) Macdonald. She was an employee of Cape Breton University from its early days as Nova Scotia Eastern Institute of Technology until her retirement in 1994. She was an avid fan of all sports and a member of the Lingan Golf and Country Club and the Sydney Curling club for many years.

She is survived by her brothers, Fletcher, of Dunstable, Massachusetts and Charles of Point Edward; sister, Nonnie of London, Ontario, as well as many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Buddy Allen; brothers, Bob of Point Edward and Garvin of Port Coquitlan, BC.

Funeral service will take place Friday, November 15, 2019, at 11 a.m. in Sydney Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.

Special thanks to staff and volunteers at the An Cala Unit for making our time there as easy as possible, to Bruce and Shelly Woolridge for their love and support and to Shelly Macdonald whose presence during Elmo's final days meant so much.

Memorials may be made to the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
