Frederick William "Fred" Hillier

January 9, 1959 - February 16, 2021

|

Whitney Pier

With broken hearts, we, the family of Frederick William Hillier, are saddened to announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at the QEII, Halifax.

Born January 9, 1959, in Whitney Pier, he was the son of the late Ronald and Evelyn (Gillespie) Hillier.

Fred was larger than life.  His love for his family was beyond compare and his ability to torment and crack a joke was like no other.  Fred was always the life of the party and a father to half of Sydney.  Fred’s life was turned upside down just 11 months ago when he lost the love of his life and we all know that he felt every ounce of pain that day and every day since, a broken heart doesn’t heal.  He cherished his wife and his family and that night, Pam came and took him back where he belonged, with her.  Although we know that you are where you longed to be, there are so many people that are missing you.  The world will not be the same without your sick sense of humour, your boisterous laugh and your daily snapchat and facebook updates.  DeDad your shoes could never be filled nor will the space in our hearts, but in typical Fred fashion, “It is what it is.”

Fred is survived by his daughters, Nicole (Ray) Roberts and Michelle (Darren) Crane, both of Whitney Pier; sons, Kristopher (Shelley), Sydney River and David, HRM; loving grandchildren, Olivia, Mckenah, Avrey, Riley, Maggie, Jase, Jack, Marissa, Max, Kobi, Carter and Paisley. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Brian) MacNeil, Sydney and a special niece, Kelley Ross, BC.

Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by his loving wife, Pam (Quirk) in March 2020; brother, Dennis Hillier; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Ida Quirk.

A private family service will be held. Visitation, open to the public, will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 2-4 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
