Gerald “Jed” Corbett

1948-2019

|

Sydney

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our father, brother, uncle and friend. Gerald "Jed" Peter Corbett, 70, of Sydney passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Dartmouth General Hospital, after a short battle with cancer.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late James B. and Margaret G. (Quinn) Corbett.

Jed Gerald is survived by his daughter, Christine "Tina" Corbett, Dartmouth; son, Jason (Ashley Burke), Halifax; sister, Colleen MacPherson, Sydney; brothers, Melvin, Sydney, and Shaun (Lillian), Benacadie.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (MacMullin); sister, Pricilla Waddel; brothers, James, Patrick and Ronald.

Jed was a school teacher for 35 years and was very active in the Nova Scotia Teachers Union. Truly the real passion in his life was hockey. He loved to play hockey three to four times a week. His favorite game was Friday night hockey at the Pier rink.  As well, he was a devoted hockey fan remaining loyal to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the good and bad years.

Visitation celebrating Jed’s life will be held Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 4–7 pm in Sydney Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
