Gerald "Jerry" Cole

|

Sydney

It is with immense heartbreak that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Jerry passed away suddenly at the ICU in Halifax on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Born in Sydney, he was the youngest son of the late Donald and Emily (Burt) Cole.

Jerry will be deeply missed by his wife, Helen (Richardson) and children, Cheryl (Aaron) Feit, Sydney River and Gerald Jr. “Jay”, Sydney. Most of all, Jerry will be missed in the lives of his beautiful grandchildren, Rhylan, Rohan and Reese Feit. One of Jerry's most precious joys was to be papa to these beautiful children. Also left to mourn are his siblings, Margie (Dave) Langlois, Sydney, Tom (the late Rose), Sydney, Paul, ON, Gary (the late Marie), Moncton, NB, Gordie (Carole), St. Catharines, ON, Bert (the late Emma),Toronto, ON and Diane (Allan) Hanratty, Sydney. He will also be greatly missed by the large number of nieces and nephews in his life.

Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his brother, Donald Junior and sister, Marilyn Samson.

Jerry was an employee of Sydney Co-op for 30 years and then Walmart for a few years before retirement. He also served as a member of the Grand Lake Road Volunteer Fire Department, retiring as a lieutenant after 25 years.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Rex Dunn who did everything humanly possible to help dad. The family will never forget this incredible doctor during this most difficult time.

Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 30 from 12-2 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Covid-19 protocols will be followed. Proof of double vaccination, ID and masks are mandatory.

Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to a charity of your choice.
