Sydney

I, Gloria Mae (White) Rogers, wish to inform you of my passing on Friday, February 21, 2020, in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a lengthy battle with lung disease. I was previously a resident of the MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney.

Sadly, I leave behind my son, Aaron (Jolene) Tuck; granddaughter, Emily Mae Tuck, Bass River, NS; sisters, Beverly (Edgar/Babe) Andrews, Louisbourg, N.S. and Evelyn (Dave) Mazurek; nephew, Tom Mazurek and niece, Margo (Connor) Gray, Kitchener, ON; my special son, Jerry (Shelly) Lynk; special granddaughter, Krystle (Jeff) Lynk MacDonald; and great-granddaughters, Alexis and Ariana, Fort Saskatchewan, AB.  Also, I leave behind special cousins, Wanda, Debbie, Nancy, Margie, Fraser and Dougie, as well as other cousins, my special friend, Betty Deleskie and several special nieces and nephews.

I was predeceased by my husband, Angus J. Rogers; parents, Tom and Mary (MacLean) White; stepfather, Robert Livingston; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Susan (Madower) MacLean; and paternal grandparents, Uzeb and Margaret (Usher) White.

To earn my living, I worked as an LPN in various hospitals in Nova Scotia and Ontario, also, in various government offices in Nova Scotia.  The best job I had was being a mother to Aaron, my pride and joy, and a nanny to Emily Mae.  Things that brought me joy were playing darts, socializing with friends and a good game of tarabish.  I was also friends with Dr. Bob and  Bill W. for over 30 years.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel,  49 Welton Street on Friday, February 28 from 1-2 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m., with Fr. Evo DiPierro officiating.  Lunch to follow the service.

Memorial donations may be made to CBRH Palliative Care, the Diabetes Association or charity of your choice.
