John Warren “Jack” Cox passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born June 19, 1950, in Sydney, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Johnston) Cox and his stepmother, Mary Lou Cox.

Jack was employed at Sydney Steel and Narco. He was a member of the Mira Road Volunteer Fire Department, the Sydney Kinsmen and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 138, Ashby, where he was caretaker for the last 22 years.

Besides his stepmother, Jack is survived by his loving wife, Dora Harris; daughter, Nicole Cox (Garth Estabrooks), Sackville; son, John (Tanya De Laval), Sydney; grandchildren, Haley and Makayla; sister, Valerie Cox, Sydney; and brothers, Billy (Brenda), Sydney, Kevin (Chantel), NB and Robert (Dawn), Sydney.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Leigh-Anne Cox and the mother of his children, Linda (Surette).

Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the An Cala, Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
