Judith Evelyn (Hawco) Murphy, 73
February 16, 1946 – January 25, 2020, Sydney

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judy Murphy on January 25, 2020, at MacGillivray Guest Home in Sydney.

Judy worked for many years as a crossing guard on Prince St in Sydney, before retiring in 2011.  She was well-known for her cooking and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.  She loved to spend time in Irish Vale and adored her children and her grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her two sons, Shane (Michelle) Murphy and John (Donna) Murphy, all of Sydney; her six grandchildren, Kelsie, Brett, Brianna, Luke, Cole and Maria. She is also survived by her sisters, Carol MacKinnon of New Waterford and Patricia (Elmer) Ranni of Sydney; three brothers, Jack (Mary), Donnie (Sharon) and Barry (Joanne), all of Sydney and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her partner, Danny "Bud" MacDonald, her parents, Tim and Gladys Hawco and one brother, Tim "Buddy" Hawco Jr.

The family would like to thank the staff of MacGillivray Guest Home and Dr. Archibald for the care and compassion shown to Judy.

A funeral service will be held in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whitney Pier Youth Club or a charity of your choice.
