June Agnes (Latham) MacDonald

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our much-loved mother, aunt, sister-in-law, grandmother, friend and cherished member of our family, June A. (Latham) MacDonald (A.K.A. June-Bug).

Born June 21, 1939, in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Ernie and Grace (MacMillan) Latham.

June worked as a switch-board operator for MT&T in the 1960’s and in the 1980's, was owner and operator of the Meadows Motel in Sydney Forks, NS. She also enjoyed part-time jobs at Carlton Cards and Wal-mart. June loved to “sing” almost as much as she loved to “laugh” or to tell a good joke! June sang with the Sydney River United Protestant Church Choir, Gaelic Choir, the Hospital Choir, Honey Mann and Friends and more recently, the MacGillvray Guest Home with the Forget Me Notes Choir. She was a very active volunteer in her community and gave of her time freely and generously.  She was a member of the Sydney River United Protestant Church, secretary for the U.C.W. and she was a volunteer at the C.B.R.H gift shop for many years. Everyone who was blessed to have met or known June or be in her presence knew how supportive and loving she was. June would light up a room with her laugh and beautiful smile, always leaving a lasting impression. June-Bug will be “truly” missed, she was the “life of the party!” Cousin June-June the fun cousin.  She loved to be surrounded by her friends and family. She enjoyed having a good game of skippo, board games, puzzles, baking, reading, dancing, singing and watching her show, the Y&R and the residents of Coronation Street.

June is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Dunford, Sydney and Tiffany (Denny) Stearns,  California; grandchildren, Eden Rose Dunford, Axel and Knox Stearns; sister-in-law, Lorraine Latham.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; brother, David; cousin, Patsy Green; and close friend, Charlotte Sillifant.

Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday, August 26 from 1-2 p.m., with a service in the chapel at 2 p.m., with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment in Alfred Smith Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lung Association of Canada or a charity of your choice.

Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca

We would like to take this time to say a very special thank you to everyone at the MacGillvray Guest Home in Sydney for taking such wonderful care of our Mother.

Look for the good and be the positive

Learn from mistakes but let go of past what-ifs

Laugh whenever you can, especially at yourself

Learn to listen and listen to learn

Lift up others
