Kenneth Ratushny - Lower Sackville

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Ken Ratushny on March 22, 2020 at QEII Halifax Infirmary.

Born June 15, 1952 in Sydney, Ken grew up in Whitney Pier then moved to Sydney River with his

parents. He graduated from Sydney Academy High School in 1970, and earned a degree in Civil

Technology from The N.S. Eastern Institute of Technology in 1973. Ken worked several years at

Municipal Ready-Mix Ltd, then worked 36 years as a salesman selling Survey, Engineering supplies and

large format plotters with Norman Wade, Azon, finally retiring from Cancel in 2017. Ken loved driving

around the Maritimes, especially Cape Breton, to visit all his customers and friends.

Ken was the son of the late Edmund and Bernice (Kiec’) Ratushny. Left to mourn are his wife Cheryl

(Parsons); brothers Michael (Lucene), Sydney and Robert (Karen), PEI; sister Marianne Gillis, Sydney.

Two nephews Billy and Michael Gillis, niece Natasha Ratushny. Step son Jason Dunnett, step daughter

Sonya Barker, two grand-daughters Brooke and Venessa Barker. Two sons from his first marriage, Jeffrey

(Donna) and Kevin, grandchildren Matthew and Laurel Ratushny.

On behalf of Ken and myself, we would like to thank the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia,

the Red Cross, Paramed, VON, Continuing Care and the nurses and doctors of the QE II. A special thank

you to our physician Dr. Aiden Carey for his extraordinary care and Kollin Weatherbee of Sydney

Memorial Chapel for his support and guidance during this difficult time.

In memory of Ken in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society or a charity of your

choice.

There will be no viewing or funeral services during these times, a memorial service will take place on a

later date, not yet determined.
