Livio Nicoletti

January 25, 1942 - August 28, 2020

|

Dominion

On August 28, 2020, our hero passed away at the Glace Bay General Hospital, where he was surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Dominion, January 25, 1942, Livio was the son of the late Giuseppe and Anna (Ravanello) Nicoletti.

A devoted husband of 55 years to Carole (Mader) and a loving and nurturing father to Annette, Rodney (Kim) and Angela.  He was also a very proud and loving Nono to Jesse Nicoletti and Carmen Lewis.

Livio was a hard worker, enjoying his profession spanning over 54 years as a member of IBEW Electrical Union Local 1852.  He worked on many projects for NSP over the years, retiring at the Lingan Power Plant, where he was Project Manager, a position that gave him much satisfaction. He was also co-owner of Buns Master Bakery franchise in Sydney for many years. Livio remained very active after retirement, enjoying his early morning walks.  He loved to hunt, but he was passionate about fishing, spending hours in the winter on the ice with friends.  He enjoyed many good times at their home in Birch Plains.  Livio had quite the green thumb, tending his extensive gardens.  He was an active member of the Dominion Italian Community Hall, until his health began to fail in 2018.  Livio had a voice that brought tears to one’s eyes, he sang with the Italian Choir, as well as singing many solos.  He was, at one time, a member of the Cape Breton Chorale.  His wit and sense of humour will not be forgotten.

Also feeling this great loss are his amazing and caring sisters, Norma (Bob) Cooke, Rina (Greg) Gouthro and Rita (Jim) Tompkins. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Fern; brother-in-law, Junior; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who he adored.

Besides his parents, Livio was predeceased by his brother, Fulvio; sister, Marie Anthony; and niece, Andrea Blake.

Many thanks to the healthcare staff that showed much kindness and compassion during his illness.

Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport on Thursday, September 3rd at 11 a.m., with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. A private family interment will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Livio’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Peter’s Place Rehab Facilities or to a charity of choice.
