Sydney

We, the family of Margaret O’Dea, are deeply saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.

Born May 28, 1929, in Sydney, Margaret was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bridget (Murphy) Whiffen.

She is survived by the love of her life, Ambrose Lukeman; her daughters, Debbie (Jack) MacDonald and Connie O’Dea (Jack O’Connell); her grandchildren, Lynne, Brent, Kellie, Kyle, Jodi, Kirk, Mark and Krista; her sister, Eileen (Billy) MacKinnon, as well as many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and friends.

Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her son, Johnnie; brothers, Alfred Maher, Gerald, Raymond, Pat, Vince, Frank and Thomas Whiffen; and her sister, Mary Guymer.

Special thanks to the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home and 2nd West Northside General Hospital, especially Dr. Wawer and Dr. Poulos.

Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A funeral Mass and celebration of life will be arranged for a later date.

Margaret will always be remembered for her love of her family, her humor and her kindness. No one loved a good time, no one could see the good in everyone and no one could make you laugh like she could.

Donations in her name can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. If anyone is so inclined, plant a tree in her honor.

Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca

Love you 2-5-6
