Marie MacInnis

December 23, 1940 - April 28, 2021

Marion Bridge

We, the family of Elizabeth Marie MacInnis, sadly announce her passing on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born December 23, 1940, in Glace Bay, Marie was the daughter of the late Daniel Beddard and Annie (Payne) Boutilier.

Left to mourn is Marie's best friend and loving husband of 52 years, Bernie MacInnis, Marion Bridge, along with their children, Charlotte Anne, Jacqui Lee, Terri (Scott) Johnston and Sandy (Jennifer).  The absolute joy of mom's life was her grandchildren who she loved beyond measure, Alexander, Nicholas and Beth, as well as her great-grandson, Wyatt.

Mom is also survived by her brothers, Bill Boutilier and Benji (Sarah) Boutilier; her sister, Paula MacLean; and the entire MacInnis family.

Until retirement, mom’s whole nursing career was spent at the old General Hospital in Glace Bay. For many years, she spent her free time knitting beautiful creations. After retirement, mom turned to quilting, sitting at the kitchen table making beautiful pieces of art. Anyone that is lucky enough to have one of these holds a treasure.

Besides her parents, mom was predeceased by her sister, Jacqueline Dresher; brother, Roy Boutilier; sister-in-law, Shirley Boutilier; and brother-in-law, Frank MacLean

The family would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the nursing staff and doctors who provided mom with the absolute best care during her stay on 4C, ICU and the An Cala Palliative Care Unit.

Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of Sydney Memorial Chapel.  At mom's request, there will be no viewing or service. A private family service will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations in memory of Marie can be made to the CBRHF Cancer Patient Care Fund or the SPCA.

Forever in our hearts, we miss you and love you dearly.

Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca
