We sadly announce the passing of our dear Myrna Lorraine Cox, age 73, on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born August 2, 1947, in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Allie and Rita (Smith) Cox.
Myrna is survived by her sister, Sharon (Lawrence) Jellow, North Sydney; brother, Bob (Ann) Cox, Ferney, BC; uncle, Maurice Campbell, Sydney; nephews, Tim (Kathy) Jellow, Regina, Ben (Debbie) Jellow, Dartmouth and Robbie Cox, Calgary; nieces, Cheryl MacInnis (Allan), Breton Cove, Lorna Jellow (Paul), Calgary and Terri Paterson (Todd), Ferney, BC; grandnephews, grandnieces and special cousins.
Myrna spent most of her life in Sydney. After the passing of her parents, Myrna became a resident of the Chemoi Group Home in Cheticamp where she was quickly welcomed into their family and made many special friendships. We wish to thank the wonderful staff, past and present, for their care over the years.
Myrna had a dry, quick wit and loved to have the last word, so just when you thought you had it, well think again. She loved children, animals, Elvis cartoons, good food and bling (the bigger the better!). She loved to tease and to be teased. We will miss her.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 16, from 1-2 p.m. followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Family flowers only. Should you wish to make a donation in Myrna’s memory, we ask that you consider the An Cala Palliative Care Unit or the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County to support the wonderful work they do.
