With broken hearts, we, the family of Pamela Patricia “MEMA” Hillier, are saddened to announce her passing on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 27, 1957, in Woodstock, ON, she was the daughter of Ida Ruth (Bragg) Quirk and the late David Gervaise Quirk.
Pam is survived by her loving husband, Frederick “Fred”; daughters, Nicole (Ray) Roberts and Michelle (Darren) Crane, Whitney Pier; sons, Kristopher (Shelley), Sydney River and David, Elmsdale. MEMA was at her happiest when she was surrounded by her loving grandchildren, Olivia, McKenah, Avrey, Riley, Maggie, Jase, Jack, Marissa, Max, Kobi, Carter and baby Paisley Grace, on the way. She is also survived by her sisters, Heather (John) Baumble, Yvette (Gord) Field and Sonya (Lawrence) Godziuk, all of AB and Stephanie Quirk (Orrin Hoss), Glace Bay; brothers, Gower (Theresa), Sheldon (Lorna) and Brent (Tammy), AB, Derrick (Darlene) and Gervaise (Sherry), BC and Nelson (Cindi), Ottawa; brother-in-law, Tim Noel; sisters-in-law, Karen Quirk and Christine Webb; 27 nieces and nephews; 32 great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many amazing friends, especially her Tuesday night girls; her furbabies, Willow and Luna; lifelong friends, Wayne and Marie Roach, Patsy Morrison, as well as her three amigos, Yvonne, Ellen and Beth.
Besides her father, Pam was predeceased by her sister, Tanya Noel; brothers, Sandy and David; nephew, Paul; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Hillier.
Thank you to the nurses and doctors of 4A, 3B and Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their compassionate care of our loved Pam.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, March 10 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, March 11 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Canon Brenda Drake officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
Pam always had an open-door policy and was a Mom and Mema to many.
She picked you up when you were down, helped whenever she could and
had no problem giving you a kick when you needed it. There was always
an extra plate of supper, a designated driver or a bed to lie your head at
Mema’s house. She loved many like they were her own.
