Paul Harold Richardson

|

Bedford

It is with great sadness, that we the family announce the peaceful and sudden passing of Paul Harold Richardson on February 12, 2020, at his home in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

He was the son of the late George and Winnie (Gordon) Richardson.

Paul will be forever missed by his loving wife, Sandra (MacMillan); his daughter, Karen (Stephen) Johnson of Sydney; and his “boys”, Dean of Strathmore AB, Scott (Kelly) and Adam (Ashley), both of Halifax; and his grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler of Halifax and Cassidy of Strathmore. Paul’s biggest love in life and greatest joy was his family, they were his world. Also surviving are his sisters, Bernice (Gordon), Irene (Michael) and Beverly (Dan Neil), all of Sydney and niece, Wendy and nephews, John, Michael and Stephen. Paul is also survived by in-laws, Thelma, Danny (Margie), Karen (Stanley), and Elliott (Kim) and families including Leta who loved him dearly and “little buddy” Alexandra. Besides his parents Paul was predeceased by first wife Heather (Hill).

Paul worked for over 30 years for Cape Breton Development Corporation followed by Seaboard Industrial Supply. Paul was a very well-respected and admired worker in his field. Paul was never the loudest person in the room, but to his family he was always the strongest. He made people laugh with his quick wit and honest observations. When his children, family or anyone else needed advice, he was the first person to call and never turned down a chance to help. He didn’t need to meet someone to care about them. He didn’t want us to worry about him, no matter the circumstances.

Dad says goodbye with his children knowing just how lucky they were to have a father who wished for nothing but their happiness. We were always put first, and we were always loved unconditionally. We’ll carry him with us every day until we see him again.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating, immediately followed by a reception. Committal service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the MacMillan Memorial United Church (Catalone) or charity of choice.
