Reginald Lloyd Mollon, 94, of Sydney, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 8, 2021, in the Cove Guest Home, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Reginald Mollon Sr. and Grace (Rutherford) Mollon.
Reginald is survived by his wife, Irma Morrison, Coxheath; son, Stephen Mollon, Scarborough; daughter, Ann Mollon, Ottawa; grandson, Daniel; granddaughter, Sabrina; step-daughters, Lori Collins and Janet Morrison; brother-in-law, Philip Burns(Jackie), New Waterford; sisters-in-law, Joyce Fogarty, Sydney and Mary Mollon, Brantford, ON.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Thelma G. Mollon (Burns) of New Waterford; brother, Earl; sister, Jean Rudderham; and brother, Gordon.
Reg went to Ashby School and graduated from Sydney Academy in 1944. He continued his studies at Mount Allison University, earning an engineering certificate. In 1949, he received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Nova Scotia Tech. He first worked with Eastern Light and Power of Sydney, and then moved to Halifax in 1955 to work for the Nova Scotia Power Commission. In 1986, Reg retired from Nova Scotia Power, after a career that spanned over three decades, returning to his native Sydney in 1993. He was a lifetime member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia.
Reg will be remembered for his generous and caring nature. He was dedicated to his family, loved his work deeply and was a camping enthusiast. In his later years, Reg loved the Wednesday night suppers and card games with his friends at the United Protestant Church of Sydney River.
Special thanks to the staff at the Cove in Sydney for their dedication and compassionate care, both of Reg and his family.
A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 13 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating and assisted by long-time friend, Rev. Ralph Johnston. You can view the service on Facebook Live by visiting the Sydney Memorial Chapel facebook page.
