William Wayne Bennett

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of William Wayne Bennett on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born August 18, 1945, in Sydney, he was the son of the late William and Gertrude (Madore) Bennett.

He was employed with the Sydney Steel Plant for 33 years.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis (Mansfield); sons, Russell (Sheri), Sydney and Nelson (Gina), Reserve Mines; grandchildren, Hailey, Brody and Bella; sister, Fran (Doug) Moulton, Calgary; brother, Ray (Bev), Sydney; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his sisters, Gertrude “Sis”, Julie, Freda and Debbie and brothers, Nelson and Leo.

There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Eastmount Cemetery. Mass can be viewed online by visiting the Holy Redeemer Church Facebook page.
